A DistributedAUDIO system consists of three software components.
The DistributedPLAYER, which runs on each listeners smart phone or PDA and produces the speech to which users listen..
The DistributedEDITOR, which edits text files for speaking. This is the key to our patented methods for producing natural sounding speech.
The DistributedPACKAGER, which creates the information programs for downloading by the players. It assembles a collection of information article files into a single text-audio information program file, then encrypts and compresses the file. This protects the information while minimizing transmission time during distribution.
Because DistributedAUDIO information programs consist of only small text files, preparation and delivery costs are extremely modest. It takes about 10 minutes to prepare a 1-hr. program. The program file is about 25 Kbytes in size, and can be downloaded by the information appliance at 28 KBPS in less than 10 seconds.
The DistributedPLAYER uses readily available commercial text-to-speech engines. These are available in many languages, with a range of speech qualities, personalities and footprints. See our White Paper for a detailed discussion of the possibilities.
